Gratitude Makes a U-Turn || Luke 17:11-19

  • The healed Samaritan leper spontaneously returned to give personal thanks to Jesus. 11-16

  • Jesus was disappointed that nine of the ten lepers failed to return to him and give Him thanks for his gracious act of healing. 17-19

    Takeaways:

  • Gratitude doesn’t come naturally to us. It is a fruit born of the Spirit that must be nurtured in order to develop and grow in our lives.

  • When we believe that everything we have is a free gift, given in grace by a gracious God, gratitude begins to be the overflow of our lives.

  • If we are not vigilant about consciously rejecting ingratitude and choosing gratitude, we easily sink back into complaining and discontent.

  • How to practice and develop gratitude:

    • Think daily about your blessings from God.

    • Think daily about the people in your life who are a blessing. Think about people in your life who you may overlook or take for granted.
