Prayer for the Leaders of Our Country

Heavenly Father, we come to you this morning because your name is holy and above all others. We pray that your kingdom will come and we pray specifically today that your will will be done through our country’s leaders.

I pray that our leaders will know you Jesus. That they will know that through you all things were created, that all things are for you, and you are the ruler and power over all. That they will recognize that their authority has been given to them by you. I pray that they hear and listen to your voice and that they will be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth.

I humbly ask that our government and leadership will put aside differences to seek unity and peace in the best interests of their countrymen and that they will do what is right, not just what will earn them the public’s approval or for their own selfish ambition. We pray that they will lead in a way that brings peace to our country. That they will realize the influence of their behavior on those they are leading.

I pray for those of us voting and living in this country. that we will love our neighbors and care for those around us. that we will follow and trust you, Jesus, knowing that it’s not our country’s leaders that will save us. Instead help us to remember our leaders before you. To pray for them with love. Help us to live lives grateful before you and giving thanks for the work that our leaders do on our behalf.

Help us to remember that our enemy is not the human rulers and authorities of our earthly kingdom, but it is the devil. Help us to resist him and to stand firm in our faith.

We pray for your kingdom to come, Jesus. We long for your kingdom and for your reign. And until that time comes, help us to not seek to build our own kingdoms here, but build only those things that will last for eternity and will be for your glory.
