Teenagers and Food

Did you grow up with brothers in your family? If so, then you might have an idea of how much teenage boys can eat. But quantity is not the only issue here. They also LOVE to eat. Pity the mum (like my own mum with 5 sons) who spent half the day in the kitchen getting meals prepared for an army of hungry boys.

If this issue scratches where you itch, then perhaps you may want to join the fun. While we are unable to personally enter the Britt Academy due to the virus restrictions, we are able to drop off food for them.

That’s what happened last night. We dropped off pizza (a variety of types), wings (two kinds), and brownies. Our own RBC mum, Faith Beckett, prepared the brownies as dessert. From the picture, you can tell they are super brownies. I’ve seen the Britt boys eat five (5!) of them, even after consuming two and three helpings of a full supper. Like I said, teenage boys can eat. And they love it, too.

Well, consider an idea. Do you enjoy cooking or baking? If you do, then why not consider preparing something for the youth at the Britt. Maybe you can make a really cool dessert (cookies, muffins, pies, cakes), or prepare a special type of meat or casserole.

Keep in mind. They’re in prison. The menu is not exactly what Aaron Carroll could prepare. Get what I mean? Prison food are two words not found together in normal sentence structure. For boys locked up in prison, next to their freedom, good food is at the top of the list. When it is known that brownies are on the dessert menu, we have the makings of a hyena riot—no one wants to be left out.

So, why not consider contributing something from your own kitchen. The youth will love it and will say thank you. And, if you have a question about how to go about it, or what to fix, or how much to prepare, just give Faith a shout.

Think it over.

Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you for reading.
