Why We are Told about the Manger || Luke 2:17
Foundation: Trees play a prominent role in the Bible story, forming an extended chain of life, road signs for as on the redemptive journey, pointing ahead to God's ultimate provision of eternal life in Jesus. +
Significance of the Manger: The manger, made of wood from a tree, continues the tree of life. A trough for animals foreshadows the future kingdom of peace. (Genesis 1-2; Isaiah 11)
Takeaways
Notice the trees around you and in your own Bible reading experience. Observing the trees mentioned in scripture helps us to connect the many dots.
The Bible is one long story about God’s plan to restore His Presence and relationship with us. This is the single unifying factor of all the Scripture. Our journey will not end until we have returned to the tree of life, to God’s presence.
Have you been to the tree (Jesus) where life is found yet?
